Continuous Broad Jumps

Continuous Broad Jumps

Purpose: Locomotive plyometrics. Power. Athletic coordination.

Quick Coaching Cues

  • Complete for your desired distance, then jog or walk back and repeat.
  • Shift your weight forwards slightly to the mid-foot and explode forwards.
  • Land softly in an athletic position.
  • Keep your chest up and absorb each landing with your hips, knees, and ankles.

Common Mistakes

  • Jumping too far for the jumping surface or your traction. For example, if you’re on grass without cleats, then you’re likely to slip when jumping too far. Just shorten the jumps to maintain control on the landing.
  • Landing stiff-legged instead of absorbing the force.
  • Letting the knees cave inward on landing.
  • Pausing too long or losing rhythm between jumps.
