Broad Jump to Lateral Jump
Purpose: Locomotive plyometrics. Power. Athletic coordination.
Quick Coaching Cues
- Complete for your desired distance, then jog or walk back and repeat.
- Shift your weight slightly forwards and explode forward, then quickly redirect into the lateral jump. Reset.
- Land softly in an athletic position with your chest up and knees bent.
- Stick each landing with control before driving into the next direction.
Common Mistakes
- Landing stiff-legged instead of absorbing through the hips, knees, and ankles.
- Letting the knees cave inward on the forward or lateral landing.
- Taking too long to transition to the lateral jump.
