Two Leg Side to Side Jumps

Purpose: Plyometric. Fast twitch recruitment. Athletic coordination. Glutes, quads, calves, ankles, and feet.

Quick Coaching Cues

  • Coordinate the arms with the jumps, swing arms from the shoulders.
  • Push off and land on both feet at the same time.
  • Jump with some power.

Common Mistakes

  • Not coordinating the arms or not using the arms at all.
  • Pushing off and landing flat-footed. Contact the ground at the mid-foot (balls of the feet).
  • Not giving enough power into the jumps. Jump with some power and control. You don’t need to jump as far as possible, just more power than a hop.
  • Landing stiff legged. Land soft and fast into a quarter squat.
