Single Leg Forward Jump to Lateral Jump

Purpose: Locomotive plyometrics. Power. Athletic coordination.

Quick Coaching Cues

  • Complete for your desired distance, then jog or walk back and repeat.
  • Start balanced on one leg and explode up and forwards, land and jump laterally, landing on the opposite leg. For example, starting on your right leg, perform and forward single leg jump, land on your right leg and immediately jump to your left, landing on the left leg.
  • Keep your chest up and knee slightly bent as you land and redirect.
  • Stick the landing softly, and control your body before the next rep.

Common Mistakes

  • Letting the knee cave inward on the single-leg or lateral landing.
  • Rushing the jump without first finding balance on the takeoff leg.
  • Landing stiff-legged instead of absorbing through the ankle, knee, and hip.
