Toe Touches & Leg Raises – Update

Purpose: General core strength.

Quick Coaching Cues

Toe Touches

  • Keep legs straight as you can, slightly bent is fine.
  • Crunch up, reaching for your toes.

Leg Raises

  • Keep your lower back flat against the ground.
  • Keep your legs straight if you can. If you need to modify, bend them slightly.
  • Keep your butt on the ground at the top of the leg raise.

If you need to regress the movement, you can place your hands under your hips like this variation.

Common Mistakes

Toe Touches

  • Not lifting the shoulders off the ground. You want to crunch enough to lift the shoulders and head off the ground.

Leg Raises

  • Not moving from the hips. You want to raise the legs from the hips, not moving at the knees.
  • Lifting the hips off the ground at the top of the movement.
  • Arching the lower back off the ground.
