Ice Skaters

Purpose: Lateral plyometrics and agility. General athletic aerobic conditioning.

Quick Coaching Cues

  • Coordinate arm movement with the lateral movement. Reach with the left arm when jumping to the right.
  • Push-off and contact the ground from the balls of your foot.
  • Land soft with a bent knee.

If this is too easy, you can add a touch to the ground like this variation, or you can increase the power like this variation.

Common Mistakes

  • Moving same arm with the same side leg.
  • Pushing off and landing flat footed.
  • Landing with a stiff leg.
