Chair Seated Hand Resisted Abduction

Purpose: General strength. Chest and hips.

Quick Coaching Cues

  • Sit tall near the front of the chair with your core braced and feet flat.
  • Press your hands against the outside of your knees while driving your knees outward.
  • Hold for 10-15 seconds, rest for 3-5 seconds, and repeat for 3-4 sets.

Common Mistakes

  • Rushing. Hold and maintain constant pressure for 10-15 seconds.
  • Letting the knees drift inward because the outward press is too weak.
  • Using jerky effort instead of smooth, controlled tension.
