Chair Supported Bent Over Single Arm “I” Raise

Purpose: Upper body strength. Shoulders and upper back.

Quick Coaching Cues

  • Support yourself on the chair, hinge at the hips, and keep your back flat.
  • Raise your arm straight overhead in line with your body to form an “I.”
  • Keep your shoulder down and move with control through the upper back.

Common Mistakes

  • Rounding the back or standing too upright instead of staying hinged.
  • Shrugging the shoulder up toward the ear during the raise.
  • Swinging the arm with momentum instead of lifting with control.
