Single Hop to Lateral Jump (in-place)

Single Leg Hop to Lateral Jump (in-place)

Purpose: Plyometrics. Single leg elasticity and ankle strength.

Quick Coaching Cues

  • Standing on the right leg, left leg is off the ground. Complete a vertical hop, land on the same leg and immediately jump to the left, landing on the left leg. Now, repeat that sequence with the left leg. Standing on the left leg, hop up. When you land on the left leg, immediately jump to the right, landing on the right leg.
  • Coordinate your arms with the movement.
  • Be quick and responsive with the transition between landing the hop and executing the lateral jump.

Common Mistakes

  • Not using the arms.
  • Not landing on the opposite leg for the lateral jump.
  • Not being quick off the ground.
